I am a political theorist with research interests in contemporary democratic theory, liberalism and its critics, Ancient Greek political thought, American political thought, and constitutional theory. I have teaching competency in political theory, public law, and American politics. I currently teach in the Department of Politics at Occidental College, where I teach courses in political theory, U.S. constitutional law, and law and society. I received my PhD in 2019 from The University of Texas at Austin. My current research draws on contemporary political theory and canonical figures from the history of Western political thought to advance an account of the dispositions of character requisite to critique and reimagine democracy. My scholarship has been published in top journals in political science. I have experience teaching both large lecture classes and small seminars, and have helped undergraduates from diverse backgrounds meet and exceed demanding course expectations.
